I had a friend who came to me with a paint can full of cocaine paste. He wanted to know if I could do anything with it. I told him I didn’t know anything about cocaine paste, but I’d hang on to it and check around. I put the can in my freezer.
The next time I spoke with Joe, I asked if he knew anybody who could do something with the cocaine paste to make it profitable. He said he could cook it up and convert it to powder for sale on the street. We met and I gave him the can of paste to work on.
After a while he called and said he had something to show me. We got together in the parking lot of a motel off the Florida turnpike. He opened his trunk and it was filled with wrapped packages of cocaine he’d converted from the paste. He said he had a buyer for it, and I told him to go ahead and sell it and we’d split the profits and take care of my friend who gave it to me.
I kept in touch with my psychic friend Jackie in Las Vegas. We were talking on the phone shortly after my meeting with Joe. She told me not to trust him; he was either setting me up or would sell me out.
Sure enough, a couple of days later I got a call from him. He said he’d been driving around in some development when the cops got him and found the cocaine in his trunk. There was going to be trouble.
I called Jackie again and told her about it.
She said, “Don’t trust him. Get out of there right away.”
I’d done a lot of good scores in Florida in a short time. I agreed with Jackie, though. With the Cuban guy I looked so much like robbing stores almost every day and now the problem with Joe, it was time to leave.
The following day I packed my clothes and told my son I was going back to California. He could sell anything we’d bought for the apartment and move back with his mother.
That next morning, I was gone. Back to Los Angeles.
